Convo is a new dining experience that aims to create a wiser, kinder world. They work towards this by holding events in warehouses throughout Melbourne. Convo invites strangers to share food and partake in conversations that explore layered and illuminating topics that are rarely discuss in our daily lives. All in the hope of creating more connection and community while celebrating just how mentally refreshing a good conversation can be.
Convo creates twilight worlds perfect for relaxed and meaningful conversations. However, they only exists for just a few nights a year with the next one appearing at Fitzroy’s O_Studio on Saturday 24th August. Guests are welcomed with a cocktail upon arrival provided by whiskey craftsmen Starward as they enter the warmly lit environment where soft laughter and curious musings surround them.
Guests are then quietly singled to take a seat at tables of six to eight people. On each table lays six numbered cards featuring the evening's questions, they are purposefully designed and curated to create a conversational arc. These topics are not known before the evening but hints of what might be discuss can be found across Convo’s social media. Topics range from ethics and philosophy to joyful anecdotes and culture, none of which require prior thought or subject matter knowledge.
The three-course banquet is served from the culinary minds behind the social enterprise Charcoal Lane, with two questions paired per course. This means that every Convo ticket purchased goes towards Charcoal Lane’s mission of providing individuals who need a fresh start in life with hospitality experience and qualifications.
