In 2008 Melbourne officially became a City of Literature, joining UNESCO's Creative Cities Network, in recognition of our literary spirit and history. Today there are 28 cities worldwide with such a lebel, including Edinburgh and Krakow. This November marks 10 years since our bookishness became officially recognised.
To celebrate, the Wheeler Centre, in partnership with the Melbourne UNESCO City of Literature Office, is putting on three days of talks all about the written word. Over the three days we'll be taken back to the literary scene in 2008 and then slingshot into the future of books.
